Chiddingfold Cricket Club
Welcome to Chiddingfold Cricket Club, founded in 1804, and with its best years still ahead of it.
Over the last fifteen years, your cricket club has grown from a few dozen men playing 50 matches a year, to 400 girls, boys, men and women playing over 350. It has been transformational on many levels, cementing the club at the heart of the Chiddingfold community, creating a new generation of cricketers, and spreading the joy of cricket to everyone.
However, the systematic pinch point is the capacity of the Club's postage stamp of a ground. 'Home' matches are mostly played at third-party venues with no security of use. Coupled with this is an anticipated substantial increase in population, and demand for cricket, from planned housing developments within the Club's catchment area.
This is the main risk to the Club's longevity, and it is one the Committee have set out to solve. The Club wants to develop the old golf driving range to the south of Chiddingfold into a second facility to be its base for Women's and Junior cricket, securing cricket in the village and surrounding area for the next 220 years.
